The Centre for India and South Asia Research (CISAR) at The University of British Columbia, invites submissions for the 2021 Nehru Humanitarian Graduate Scholarship in Indian Studies. The annual $1,000 scholarship is offered by Dr. and Mrs. D. P. Goel to a graduate student pursuing the political, historical, economic, religious, social, or cultural study of India. The award is made on the recommendation of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, in accordance with findings of the Adjudication Committee of the Centre for India and South Asia Research.
All students pursuing an MA or PhD at UBC-Vancouver are eligible for this award. The three separate PDFs must be submitted by the new application deadline of Monday, November 29, 2021:
(1) A statement of no more than 1000 words on the questions, objectives, methods and significance of your graduate research work focusing on India. You may submit a research and writing project that is already underway or a project that you propose to conduct. Be sure to include in this statement a budget that indicates how you intend to use the funds. This document can also include only one additional page for references, notes, and citations.
(2) A copy of your (unofficial) UBC transcript.
(3) A current C.V.
Submissions will be judged by an interdisciplinary panel of UBC faculty and will be assessed for clarity, rigor, and originality. Please be sure to avoid jargon that may be unintelligible to an interdisciplinary panel of readers.
